The evening’s works will commence with Beethoven’s beloved Symphony No. 8 conducted by Ken Yanagisawa. Then this year’s William Waite concerto competition winner, Scarlett Tong Zuo, will take the stage, performing Rautavaara’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The YSO will then perform a world premiere of Bossa Continuo, a work by YSO alumna Loren Loiacono, followed by Aaron Jay Kernis’ Air for Cello and Orchestra featuring School of Music faculty artist Ole Akahoshi. The program will conclude with Viktor Ullmann’s Symphony No. 2, accompanied by the photography of Judy Glickman Lauder, hearkening harrowing memories of the Holocaust. The Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale will also feature an exhibition of Ms. Lauder’s work on Friday, April 1st, from 4-7pm.
