It stands for respect, the ability to listen, share, and be kind. The YSO stands united in our support of our black brothers and sisters, and hopes for meaningful change toward equity, the end of targeted racial profiling by law enforcement, and a positive and supportive way forward. In line with these core values, the YSO through all its activities commits to build and maintain a safe and positive environment, and to amplify and lift up black voices.

We are distressed and saddened at the targeting and killing of African Americans by police officers. We mourn the losses of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and many others. May their lives have a meaning and purpose that continually reminds us of our commitment to each other.
