The YSO Endowment

Connecting the Past to the Present for the Future

The Yale Symphony is proud to announce the launch of its Endowment Campaign for the perpetual health of the orchestra.

Welcome to the YSO Endowment Campaign. This much needed campaign will take place over the next 4 years and close in June 2025. Our goal is to raise $5 million which will assist with –

  1. international touring every two years
  2. free admission to YSO concerts in New Haven
  3. commissioning and recording of American music
  4. masterclasses

Over the last 55 years the YSO has been an important part of the Yale experience for over 1600 students, creating great musical experiences and building lasting friendships that have continued long after students graduate. The numerous accomplishments of the Orchestra are shared in the reminiscences of the previous Directors and are a springboard for our present and future aspirations.

Music and orchestral playing, in these vitally important years in a student’s development, help shape their character and develop greater awareness, understanding, and empathy of those around them. Music is a living bridge from the past to the present. The fulfillment of this campaign will help us to offer the membership these wider experiences and will remove any financial barriers to an individual’s involvement in experiencing the richness of orchestral music, its importance and effect upon both performers and audiences.

I look forward to meeting the YSO Alumni and our supporters during the coming months. Please feel free to contact me with questions or offers of support. In the meantime, please visit our Fundraising Goals Page for more information. Thank you for reading and I hope you will be a part of this campaign and the future of the Orchestra and its vibrant music-making for many generations to come.

Stay safe and kind regards

William Boughton
